All modules of the EMCL-25 programme are graded with ECTS. A student has to obtain at least 120 ECTS, 30 ECTS in each term, including internship and thesis. The programme is divided into 7 modules:

  • Language and Languages - A Course on General Linguistics (UEF, 1st term, 5 ECTS)
  • Language and Languages - Linguistic Reading Group (UEF, 1st term, 3 ECTS)
  • Empirical Research Methods in Linguistics (UEF, 1st term, 5 ECTS)
  • Introduction to Python Programming for Linguistic Research (UEF, 1st term, 3 ECTS)
  • Introduction to Phonetics and the Praat Tool (UEF, 1st term, 2 ECTS)
  • Statistics and Data Visualisation for Linguistics (UEF, 1st term, 5 ECTS)
  • Introduction to Praat Script Programming for Clinical Linguistic Research(UEF, 1st term, 2 ECTS)
  • Statistics and Research Methods Applied to the Development and Validation of Language Research Tools (UGENT, 2nd term, 7 ECTS)
  • Bilingualism (UGent, 2nd term, 4 ECTS)
  • Computational Models in Psycholinguistics (UGent, 2nd term, 4 ECTS)
  • Advances in Psycholinguistics (UGent, 2nd term, 3 ECTS)
  • Introduction to Developmental and Acquired Speech and Language Problems (UEF/RUG, 1st term, 5 ECTS)
  • Reading Acquisition and Dyslexia (UGent, 2nd term, 4 ECTS)
  • Advanced course in Developmental and Acquired Speech and Language Problems (RUG, 3rd term, 5 ECTS)
  • Language Testing in Awake Brain Surgery (RUG, 3rd term, 5 ECTS)
  • Eye-tracking in Language Research (UGent, 2nd term, 3 ECTS)
  • Apps and Games in Clinical Linguistics (RUG, 3rd term, 5 ECTS)
  • Neuroimaging and Language (RUG, 3rd term, 5 ECTS)
  • Internship Preparation (UGent, 2nd term, 5 ECTS)
  • Internship will take place in the 3rd term and will be conducted at one of the associated partner institutions. (3rd term, 10 ECTS)
The thesis will be written in the fourth term, under supervision of (at least) a teacher at one of the three partner universities. (4th term, 30 ECTS)
